There is nothing as destructive as low self esteem. I remember there was a time I did not apply for a certain job post in some organization just because I felt it was too big for me or I was not good enough, only to be informed later that they recruited someone with less academic qualifications than me. Sometimes in life all we need is to be confident about who we are and realize our potential.
Doing something you are good at is one way of helping us feel more competent, accomplished and capable. This will hold your attention and focus from thinking about the negative side of your life. Low self-esteem is often accompanied by too much focus on the self. Doing something that absorbs you and holds your attention can quickly make you feel better, healthier and happier.
You should try excising too, also try self-hypnosis and meditation. When you are properly relaxed, your brain is less emotional and your memory works better. A great 'rescue remedy'! Try also to remember all the things you have achieved, these will bring self-esteem boosting memories. For instance passing exams, passing your driving test, saving money to acquire something and helping someone.
Feeling bad about oneself affects one’s thoughts, memory and behavior. When you feel bad, you will only remember the bad times, and will tend to be generally pessimistic. Try doing things you have been putting off, this will help you realize your full potential and be confident about yourself hence personal growth. ‘Positive anything is better than negative nothing,’ Elbert Hubband.
